Weddings Abroad
Weddings abroad are becoming more and more popular with16% of couple choosing this option (this is the one I went for) choosing from European destinations, to more exotic places like the Mauritius.
There are two main reasons for doing so. One - weather, with the changing climate in the UK it is almost impossible to guarantee a rain free day, so couples are choosing to jet off for guaranteed sunshine to enjoy their day. Two – budget, even though you have the cost of the flights, the budget is often cut due to your guest count. Oversees weddings are great for those smaller, intimate celebrations - also great for couples wanting to avoid asking guests they feel obliged to ask!
An overseas wedding gives you a lot more options and often you don’t have the constraints of churches and licensed buildings that you have in the UK. A lot of couples choose to hold a big party when they get back for those who couldn’t make it abroad.
Personally I loved this option. I got married in Ibiza and the weather was perfect, the surroundings were amazing and it gave my husband and I a lot more freedom in terms of ceremony than we would have. I wouldn’t change it for the world!!
